Meet Our Leadership Team

At the core of the Horizon Health Care staff is our leadership team, a group of individuals whose vision, innovation, commitment, and passion have made Horizon Health a quality provider of primary medical and dental care in South Dakota.

 In October, 1983, John Mengenhausen was hired as the Chief Executive Officer to work under the guidance and director of a community board of directors and has provided direction and guidance to the staff for 25 years.

 In 2000, Wade Erickson was hired as the Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Erickson's formal education in accounting, coupled with his professional experience in public accounting has assisted Horizon in the development of a strong set of financial policies.

 Scott Weatherill is currently the Chief Information Officer for Horizon Health Care, Inc. based in Howard, SD.  He has worked on behalf of community health centers in the area of information technology for over ten years.

 In his role as Chief Operations Officer, Jeff Mengenhausen is responsible for oversight of all areas of health center operations, including assuring the flow of patient care as well as implementation of federal grant and contract funded programs. He's also charged with the management of programs and support staff plus development of new service opportunities for Horizon.

 Dr. Lim is Medical Director of Horizon Health Care, Inc. He attended the Cebu Institute of Medicine in the Philippines, and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

 Dr. Hattervig is a native of rural Carthage SD, a graduate of the University of South Dakota and the University of Nebraska of Dentistry.  On November 1, 2003 Dr. Hattervig and his staff joined Horizon Health Care, Inc. and has been appointed the dental director for the organization.
